CHARLOTTE, NC (AP) — US Air flights are taking off on time after power has been restored to a concourse at the
Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.

US Air spokeswoman Michelle Mohr said the airline had to cancel flights for some 1,500 passengers between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. Tuesday, when a power outage interrupted service.

A Duke Energy transformer problem left Concourse C without electricity, deactivating the jet bridges passengers use to reach aircraft cabins.

Mohr said 50 flights were canceled and another 120 flights were delayed as travelers were required to walk to the tarmac and climb inflatable stairs to reach their seats.

Mohr says power was restored by 5 a.m. Wednesday and all flights were operating as usual.
