WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police now have an idea of the car they’re looking for after a hit and run vehicle crash that put a college student in the hospital over the weekend. Wilmington Police say they’ve found a mirror from the car at the scene.

Daniel Khan, a 21-year-old student at UNC Pembroke, was crossing the 400 block of South College Road around 1 a.m. Saturday when he was hit.

Investigators say the mirror belongs to a light gold 1999 to 2003 Mitsubishi Galant. They say the car should have damage to driver’s side, including but not limited to the driver’s side mirror. WPD Traffic Investigators have solved similar crimes through tips about vehicles suddenly kept under tarps or other enclosures.

The Wilmington Police Department is requesting that anyone with information related to the investigation or who have seen a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description please notify investigators at the Wilmington Police Department front desk at (910) 343-3600. Those with information may also TEXT-A-TIP to CRIMES (274637) and begin the text message with TIP708. TEXT-A-TIP is a totally anonymous program. You may also provide information at www.tip708.com.
