Wilmington, NC (WWAY)-- Monkey Joe's is stepping up in support of 9/11 first responder Jimmy Kadnar.
The Kadnar family lost everything as their Wilmington home was destroyed by a fire last week.
Sunday, what that fire took the community began to give back.
"Wilmington is a generous town, they come together and help those when they face tragedy," said Monkey Joe's owner Amy Mccaskill.
Monkey Joe's not only serves as a donation drop off location but also gave $3.00 from each regular price admission from Sunday's guests to the Kadnar family.
"It makes me feel great to do anything to help a family in need, provide a safe place for the kids to have some fun and maybe forget about something that's happened to their family this week," said Mccaskill.
For the Kadnar's it is an emotional situation. Jimmy Kadnar says he is more than grateful for the donations and asks the community to continue to keep his family in their thoughts and prayers.
Monkey Joe's will be accepting donations for the rest of this week. Britt Motorsports off Market Street will accept donations for the Kadnar family throughout the month of July:
