WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington police are investigating a shooting that happened just after 2:00 pm today on Lullwater Drive, which is off Market Street between Kerr Ave. and New Centre Drive.

Police say the man was shot multiple times and was taken to the hospital. No word on his condition or if anyone has been arrested.

The victim reportedly ran to his neighbor’s home for help after he was shot. The neighbor told WWAY the victim appeared to be shot multiple times in the chest and leg. The victim told his neighbor that four men broke into his home, demanded money, shot him and stole his TV.

Another neighbor, Doug Moore, tells us the crime in the area is bad, but he never expected something like this to happen so close to home.

“Usually you hear gunshots all the time around here, or the helicopters freaking going, but never any problem with the family,” said Moore.

Perhaps the victim returned to his former business and was robbed and shot for his stash. After all, I believe he served time and was just recently released for drug trafficking. One of the hazards of the trade I guess.

What in the world is going on with our city????

Could we please have some more details on the murder in Pine Valley? It seems that there is usually daily talk about murders in the city but there has been nothing about this one….

WWAY, we need an update.

This story doesn’t even tell the “victims” name.

I agree with “what the”, and wonder why the people are taking this all in stride, like this is a normal part of our daily lives in Wilmington. WELL, I guess it is NOW…if we let it be!

I can see many reasons that these crimes are occurring, but like everyone, I turn apathetic and shrug my shoulders and say, “what can you do about it?”
