WINSTON-SALEM, NC (AP) — A Winston-Salem man has been charged
with felony child abuse after doctors told police his 4-month-old
son had several fractures when he was admitted to the hospital for
another cause.

The Winston-Salem Journal reported that 23-year-old James Walter
Duggins was charged after taking his son to Wake Forest Baptist
Medical Center for a developmental issue known as “failure to
thrive.”

Police say doctors found multiple fractures.

Duggins was being held in the Forsyth County jail. It was
unclear whether he had hired an attorney.
