Charleston comes up with creative way to attract visitors

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) – Charleston is No. 2 and wants people to come 2 visit.

Charleston was ranked No. 2 last month in Travel and Leisure magazine’s list of the top cities in the United States and Canada.

Now Charleston attractions, hotels and restaurants are offering a series to specials to mark the honor.

More than a dozen hotels are offering special packages, including a number costing $222. One hotel offers a 22 percent discount. There are also $222 spa packages, two-for-one tickets for walking tours and area attractions.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau says visitors can see all the specials at www. Come2Charleston.com.

Tourism is an $18 billion industry in South Carolina. About 4 million visitors a year visit Charleston.
