BELVILLE, NC (WWAY) -- Owen Spencer is one of the best wide receivers to ever play at NC State. His college career is now over though. As of this week he's a pro, a Tennessee Titan. The team isn’t deep at the wide receiver position, but the former North Brunswick Scorpion hopes to be able to provide depth on a team that hasn't made the playoffs since 2008. "I'm in a good situation with a new offensive coordinator where no wide receiver has the upper hand, Spencer said. “We all have to go out there and learn the playbook and the faster you learn the playbook the faster you can go out there and showcase your talents and therefore making the team."
Training camp for the Titans will open on Friday. " I want to get to training camp early to get acclimated and meet the coaches and not be in a hurry, Spencer said. “I want to be able to get to know the people and the coaching staff. Do you know what number you'll be yet? No. What numbers would you like to be? Anything that looks good, hopefully 13, why 13? Because they (other people) thought it was unlucky, but I proved them wrong.”
The Titans open the 2011 pre-season with a home game on August 13th against Minnesota in Nashville.
