BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — WWAY combined medicine and meteorology for our Brunswick County Health & Severe Weather Expo at the Odell Williamson Auditorium at Brunswick Community College Tuesday.
The WWAY StormTrack 3 Weather Team along with the National Weather Service were on hand to help people prepare for hurricane season.
Joshua Weiss from the Weather Service says with many people new to the area and since it has been a while since we had a big storm it is important to prepare for the season and there are several simple things you need to do.
“The simple things are probably what is most important and easiest to do,” Weiss said. “Make sure you have a disaster kit, some bottled water, batteries, a NOAA weather radio so if you do lose power you’re ready. Also know about the evacuation plans and where you would have to go if an evacuation is ordered for where you live.”
There was a lot to see and do, but of course one big hit was the green wall where you like our weather team could be a meteorologist for a day.
This year’s Brunswick County Health and Severe Weather Expo was a big success with more than two dozen vendors and more than 200 people attending the free event. WWAY NewsChannel 3 is proud to participate in this and many community events.
