PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — All the rain we’ve gotten lately has not helped in the fight with the Juniper Road Wildfire in Pender County. Firefighters say certain areas of the fire saw as little as two-tenths of an inch of rain this week.

That said, conditions have remained favorable, and the fire in the holly shelter game land is still 85 percent contained.

About 55 crew members remain on scene to see if possible northerly winds will create the potential for a reburn and threaten US 17.
