WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Students that attend Cape Fear Academy will come back to school with a new, state-of-the-art gym this school year.

The new facility includes a competition gym floor with a 94-foot long main court with two crossing 84-foot long courts. It also features a walking track on the second floor around the main court, six classrooms, a practice gym, a rock-climbing wall and a new weight lifting room.

“We had 14 teams going after a space of 84-foot length high school basketball court, and we had one gym,” CFA Athletics Director Chris Meehl said. “So now we have the ability to kind of house all our practices and all our teams on campus, so it is going to meet our needs currently.”

The brand new facility has caught the eye of UNCW, which has contacted Cape Fear Academy about using the facility while Trask Coliseum is being renovated this month.
