WASHINGTON, DC (AP) — The House has passed legislation designed to keep the government from defaulting on its debts. The measure also sets a course for reducing the federal deficit in the future.

The Senate, where support is stronger, is expected to take up the bill on Tuesday, the deadline for Congress to act before the government loses its ability to pay all its bills.

The 269-161 vote in the House came after Republican leaders spent the day urging recalcitrant conservatives to support the bill.

The bill would raise the debt ceiling by more than $2 trillion and cut federal spending by a similar amount over the next decade. A special congressional committee would be set up to consider entitlement and tax changes.

I am a registered independent and have been a bit sensitive to the Dems because i think the president has not been given sufficient time to turn things around. After all we expect instant rewards or an undoing in 3 years what the privious president did in 8 years. However, after this fiasco and the lack of concern about those who would suffer most, the Dems have my vote next time around…

…voting for a Democrat is identical to a woman inviting a known rapist home for a few drinks. You KNOW what’s going to happen.

Democrats are simpletons, suckers, Socialists or scammers – which are you?

November 2012 is a little ways off yet and that means there is still time for you to understand that the talking heads on liberal media News channels like MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC are prominent, low cost cable access, and trick the public with the mix of news/entertainment which is most popular with the Today Show, Oprah, Good Morning America crowd.

Take some time to listen to really smart analysts like Charles Krauthammer on Fox. Trust me, listen to this man…give him more than one shot and you will see the LIGHT!!!

Watch Fox for a week. You will learn so much. You will never, ever be able to go back to believing the lies and nonsense that is blathering all over the liberal stations.

Case in Point, Paul Ryan’s plan NEVER suggested that anyone over 55 would be affected by the cuts to medicare/ However, the LIBERALS quickly scewed the truth and ran a commercial of Grandma being wheeled up to the edge of the highest cliff and being released!

Do you know why the left wing political machine created that commercial?

They always, always take advantage of the liberals who are low-functioning, low-educated, unintelligent people that are living on entitlements and are very easily influenced.

They want to keep them as slaves to the impoverished lifestyle and a far-fetched commercial like this shocks those who are easily influenced into believing ANY drastic untruth, which they think will accumulate votes for the next election.

Granny going over the cliff represented every ‘disabled’ person to the dummies who sit at home in their rat infested, roach infested, subsidized project and put OBAMA 2012 stickers all over their motor scooters and free electronic wheelchairs, and Cadillacs.

They is doing GOOOOOOD, they needs me some more of free stuff. Vote Democratic if you are dumber than a ROCK. You have time to enlighten!

I posted this on a previous post, but I think it fits here too:

“Our democracy is but a name. We vote. What does that mean? It means that we choose between two bodies of real — though not avowed — autocrats. We choose between ‘Tweedledum’ and ‘Tweedledee’.” – – Helen Keller

  • WilmingtonMAJ says:

By that same logic, Republicans are racists, homophobes, white elitists, dictators. Which are you?

Not all people choose party affiliation based on economics. Some choose based on social values/issues.

  • Challengetheworld says:

If you think for one second, the passing of this bill is one sided and to blame on Democrats you are SADLY mistaken. This is a time to look at all of the liars and cheaters. I mean all of them, from the President to Speaker BONER. They all screwed up here. They all agreed to spend more of our money no matter which way you look at it. They failed us, collectively, as a country. I am really a person with democratic beliefs and more of a realist. However, ALL of our politicians have failed us before and specifically yesterday.

Republicans cry spending then scream when we speak about cutting military spending? Are we at war with everyone? Give me a break. Cut the BS, bring them home and focus on protecting these shores. When you have your budget balanced, you can go meddle over in the other sandboxes. Until then, we need to focus on AMERICA!

Democrats have the audacity to say “give us more” unemployement insurance and don’t touch welfare and cringe to even SPEAK about asking for more money. WRONG WRONG WRONG. If you want me to stick with any party, it will be the one who starts to really CHANGE and not just talk about it. Cut CUT CUT and more cuts. Cut until its back to a point where people will want to be a part of it. I don’t think anyone in Washington is doing their job, not a single one. They have only done one thing in my opinion. They have dawned a red jersey and a blue jersey. They have drawn the line in the sand. They could care less about helping the country and more about proving who is right. They have made a joke out of what used to be a highly regarding position, Senator & State Representative.

No more entitlements; No more lobbying; No more government organizations. RUN the Government like it was designed as a SERVICE BUSINESS, not like an endless feeder bar for every pathetic sole out there and quit trying to convince me endless military spending is necessary. Quit wasiting my money battling abortion and quit telling me that Affirmative action will actually help minorities.

I’m sick of the political ping pong. I can say for the first time in my life I am entirely neutral. Neutral in the sense I am fed up with both sides equally; the issues don’t matter to me anymore because they lost sight with what they claim to represent – the American PEOPLE.

NO MORE DAMN HANDOUTS AND NO MORE BAILOUTS. If you can’t swim, you sink. No more tanks, air planes, nothing. No more public entitlements and backroom politics. Transparency, less taxes, no more divisions that cant even prove their benefit and finally – NO MORE BULLSH**!

I feel the only quality that Republicans share is that they are generally weak, disorganized, and incompetent myself. That’s why I think the Tea Party may force them to grow a backbone.

YOU totally confuse me. I sincerely beieve that most of what the Democrats believe disgusts you. Worse than that, you know that it runs counter to common sense and Economics. The Democrats simply coddle the marginalized to garner their votes.

But I can understand why you’re not ready to hop into bed with Republicans.

You might be a Libertarian at heart…..and when I realized that, I kissed the Republican Party goodbye.

(As far as not voting Economics, remember that no one is going to want to sleep with you, regardless of gender, if you’re broke.)

  • Commonsensenotcommontoday says:

I was simply responding to a Democrat who still wants to blame only Bush. I just posted to WilmMAJ, and that will reflect my attitude toward Republicans…..which they proved several times in this debt ceiling nonsense.

I agree with almost everything you posted, save the part about lobbying. You can’t erase the First Amendment.

  • WilmingtonMAJ says:

Touche’ my friend. Your actually quite right, I completely identify myself as a Libertarian, however I have yet had the chance to vote for one. Show me a politician running for office who believes in sound fiscal policy, reduced spending, reduced taxes AND who believes that the government has no place in legislating what people do in their bedroom or how they live their lives…I would not only vote I would campaign for them. Alas there has yet to be such a candidate…at least not in the federal level.

So in the end, while I may not agree with the economic side of the Democratic party, I simply can’t vote for Republicans who would strip me of my civil rights and who knows what else. Many of whom are even down right violent about it. Evangelical Republicans will never get my vote because of this. I think it’s the most laughable hypocrisy there is in politics that republicans want to tell you they believe in less government…as long as it suits them. Telling me who I can and can’t marry isn’t less government…it’s more!

by Helen Keller, but that was a deduction that she made long, long ago.
    Almost surreal, ya know???

Think about it. She said that long before the Harvard free rider, Freshman Senator, “COMMUNITY ORGANIZER”, Socialist emerged as a Presidential Candidate.

Of course, Helen alos never witnessed his Chicago bud Oprah shaming and guilting white voters and the ENTITLED morning and afternoon television watchers (depending on city/state) for not supporting any Black Man in the past.

Helen once walked into a lions den. Did you know that?

She wanted to feel what a Lion felt like.

She should have just patted obama on the head.

  • Guest2012 says:

These words, so eloquently spoken reflect the exact sentiments of just about everyone that I know.

I just wish there was a Candidate who LIVED it once they take their seat in the White House or the legislative branches in Washington.

I also was merely responding to the blog who posted that they are going to vote Democratic because the others had thrown Mama off the cliff and didn’t care about hungry and hurting and loathesome people.

I was trying to implore this blogger not to be so blind as those who WILL NOT SEE.
Only one thing that you forgot in your post… “NO MORE SOCIALISM IN AMERICA, Let’s take OUR Country Back!

If Speaker “Boner” read your post, he would break down and Cry you a River of tears…. goofball that he is, geez!

Great Post tho! The best I’ve seen. Consider Running for office? I would actually give you an extra stipend of $700.00 to go to Washington, DC. Padgett, NO WAY; Challenge the world, OKAY!!!

  • Commonsensenotcommontoday says:

    ….with “liar.”

  • GuestLee says:

Just because Ms. Keller made this statement a long time ago doesn’t make it irrelevant in today’s world.

After all, didn’t Plato also once say, “Opinion is the medium between knowledge and ignorance”? It sure fits your post.

  • WilliamSmith says:

I think anyone who chooses to vote according to social values over their financial situation is a fool. Just my opinion….

  • Guest89 says:

See WilmingtonMaj’s post below. You sure fit into one or more of those category’s. One particularly sticks out by your last few sentences.

Also most of what you posted is what can be said about Fox News and their viewers (I know I been saying it for years).

as the SAME EXACT sort of shock value that the DEMS do ALL the time in liberal media against the Tea Party, the Republicans and any intelligent female who is not Democratic.

In reality, I have heard those last few lines many, many, many times over. Truth does not make me racist, it makes me POLITICALLY INCORRECT,which is a BIG CROCK. In a Socialist Country, I could be in trouble for utilizing my LOST Constitutional Right of FREE SPEECH, but we are in AMERICA, so while I am at it, WilmingtonMaj’ is an imbicile who would never even remotely attempt to see an opposing viewpoint.

Have you ever stepped out of your comfort zone? I hear those last few lines that I wrote every day. See, everyone who has MANAGED numerous entitlement “programs” and wrangled them diligently over the years, you know, $$$ (CHECKS) (YOUR TAX DOLLARS), (OUR cold hard cash that we earned thru TOIL, hard work, perserverence)….coming their way wants to keep them coming. Obama, Baby, THAT is the Ticket to more freebies for the next several years.

The only thing is…. There are not TOO many Bumper stickers, now are there?

I saw lies about the “other side” on ALL of the Liberal channels tonight that touted the Republicans as “taking ALL of the benefits that we Americans have worked so hard for away, but the Democrats saved the day…”
I have always listened to ALL sides and I stick with the TRUTH and the Intelligent every time, and make no apologies.

I especially love former Democrats who stopped smoking the weed and WISED UP. They really have made a remarkable recovery for themselves.

May You Get Well Soon too!
