WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A new grocery store in Wilmington that promises good ‘ole down-home food is officially opening on Thursday. The farm fresh market, Carolina Farmin’ is located at 2101 Market Street.

The majority of the produce and baked goods are grown or made in this area. Owner Wayne Long says the vision behind the new store was to provide a community market and grocery store in the downtown area

“We are not a Harris Teeter,” said Long. “We are not a Food Lion. Most of the stuff that we’re going to be selling is stuff that was produced locally as well bought yesterday. The corn slept under the stars last night.”

The ribbon cutting will be this Thursday at 9 a.m. There will also be several fun events for the family and specials all weekend including half off ice cream and gelato on Sunday.

I have seen better looking produce at the starway fleamarket. What is the deal with this store. I thought when i saw this store on Tv,it was going to be alot better. Wow was I wrong!!! This store looks like one from the great depression. I thought downtown would mean better prices, but the quality is very bad. Good Luck ypu are going to need it.

It is a great store for the area, but the prices are still not as good as the original home town store, Eagle Island Seafood and fruit market. I will continue to drive over the bridge to save even more money on local produce.
