Two more years for Carolina Beach Rd. tall business signs

READ MORE:

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- The New Hanover County Planning Board voted to extend its enforcement against tall signs on Carolina Beach Road.

The enforcement was scheduled to start Saturday, but business owners who have signs taller than six feet and 150 square feet will now have two more years to conform.

The planning board says 48 to 60 signs from Monkey Junction to Snows Cut still do not meet the ordinance and need to be changed.

Once again, time to follow in the footsteps of Ghandi and King

The business owners need to stand together and collectively tell the county to kiss them where the Sun doesn't shine. You erect a sign and years later, petty bureaucrats who would have done well in Hitler's SS come along and tell you that you have to take it down because THEY don't like it.

As I draw closer to retirement I've been trying to decide if I want to stay by the ocean or head back out west. This state's bumper crop of pipsqueeks and splinters on the banisters of liberty and freedom, who can only achieve self-gratification through ordering other people around, are making that choice very, very easy.

Sign ordinance is a bunch of Hooie!

It seems to me if they have a ordinace on sign height and size, they would know EXACTLY how many are out of compliance. 48-60 signs out of compliance? That's a pretty big spread. What happened? Did the "Planning Board" run out of fingers and toes during their team audit?

One other thing, if this "Planning Board" wants to "beautify" the Monkey Junction area, they should ELIMINATE those GAWDY and excessivly bright, flashing computerized LED signs! They are far too bright and very distracting to drivers. They look like a cop car with its blue lights flashing from a distance. Looking at that junk is no different than reading a phone text while driving.

Our local governments have a habit of not being able to see the forest due to the trees. Sometime they have difficultly with the trees themselves...
