WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A child swimming at Wrightsville Beach was bitten by a “marine animal” according to Wrightsville Beach Police. It happened about 4 p.m. off access number 8 near Moore’s Inlet.

Police say the 12-year-old boy from Cary suffered minor abrasions to his left hand. They say they could not determine the type of marine animal.

Ocean Rescue treated the boy, who was later taken to a local clinic by his mother.

Hope the little fella fully recovers. Before anyone goes on a rant, it is the ocean, the temperature is in the mid eighties and there are lots of critters everywhere. Saw a small 6 foot shark cruising with the mullet just yesterday.

i supposed it could be a blue fish….but most likely a shark….

Surrounding beaches should start using the term “marine animal” ..

Then maybe our local news organizations want report “SHARK ATTACK” as their feature story…
