POLKTON, NC (AP) — Authorities say the man who assaulted the
police chief of a small Anson County town turned himself in hours
later.

WCNC-TV reports that 27-year-old Bradley Taylor is accused of
assaulting Polkton Police Chief Kevin Mullison Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities say Taylor walked into town hall and assaulted the
chief after his girlfriend went there to seek help.

Town clerk Libby Cameron says when she went to check on the
noise, she saw Mullins being assisted to a bench, his face, scalp
and mouth bleeding.

Sheriff Tommy Allen says Taylor turned himself in about 5 p.m.
Allen credits Taylor’s family with helping quickly resolve the
incident. Allen says Taylor’s father called his office and said he
was on his way.
