KURE BEACH, NC (CAROLINA BEACH TODAY) — According to a lifeguard with Carolina Beach Ocean Rescue, a young female adult was bitten by a shark in Kure Beach on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at around 5:00pm.

The victim was in fairly shallow water and sustained a shark bite on the ankle/foot area. The lifeguard stated that there was no question that the injury was the result of a shark bite.

Following the bite, the beach was closed and the victim was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment. The lifeguard stated that the injury did appear quite severe.

MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE PERSON BITTEN. LOTS OF THINGS HAPPEN ALL THE TIME THAT ARE’NT REPORTED. THEN THERE ARE SOME, LIKE FROG, CASEY ANTHONY AND JENELLE THAT NEED TO BE PUT TO BED.

Quit trying to make news out of nothing. How often do you report on someone being stung by jellyfish or attacked by a neighbors dog?! I am sure that happens more often than shark attacks. This sort of thing happens every once and a while, add hundreds of people at the beach. Make that thousands, yeah one person may get bit by a shark, stung by a jelly, barbed by a stingray. It happens we invade the environment they live in. News would be if someone died from it, not an ankle bite from a probably juvenile shark pup that will send stupid ignorants fishing and killing random sharks in an attempt to feel better about themselves by saving the public from menacing evil human eaters that are shark. This is not news worthy…

Frankly, I would rather read about a jellyfish than a Frog (enough already!).
