WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — For the Cape Fear Center for Inquiry it is an especially exciting time as they are entering a legitimate school building for the first time in school history.

Renee Lemons is a teacher, “We’ve been looking for a permanent home for 13 years so this really is a dream come true. We’ve been working hard at it for all those years and this will be the first time that we’ve been in a space that really was designed to be a school.”

Friday afternoon was a ribbon cutting for the school’s new facility. Parents, students and faculty seemed very excited.

Brian Corrigan is the schools director. “We have now five acres, almost six acres of space and inquiry education needs a lot of space and we’ve never had that. We’ve done a great job and now we’re going to have the space to do an even better job.”

The kindergarten through eighth grade school now has everything it needs and school starts at the Cape Fear Center for Inquiry on Tuesday.

An address or general location for the school would have been nice to mention in this article. Seems pretty important.

In looking at their website, I noticed that CFCI is a charter school and has achieved some remarkable results. CFCI should be proud that it met all 13 of 13 AYP criteria and earned the top tier HONOR School of Excellence designation for 2010-2011. Now it will have a beautiful brand new purpose built school facility in which to raise the bar even higher. Congratulations CFCI.

unfortunate that NO charter schools are on the north side of NHC…at least to my knowledge. Both are out on Shipyard and Monkey Junction…Thats a LONG drive from Gordon Rd area…crossing my fingers one will go up on this side of town.
