WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A Coast Guard boat crew from Station Wrightsville Beach recovered a body today from the Wrightsville Beach Channel.

The crew found the body of 68-year-old Jack Stuart Aardema of Wrightsville Beach around 11 a.m. A witness from Marine Max boat sales said the man had driven his boat through the channel with an apparent injury.

As the crew responded to the call, the man fell from his boat into the water. The boat then collided with the seawall.

An investigation of the incident is ongoing.
