HOLDEN BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Holden Beach has declared a mandatory evacuation. Everyone needs to be off the island by 6 p.m. today, according to a news release from Mayor Alan Holden. The bridge is subject to being closed sooner if winds are sustained at 45 mph or higher.

A town wide curfew will begin at 8 p.m. A curfew means anyone who stays is required to stay in their home. It also bans all alcohol and weapons.

The town says it will terminate water and sewer service by mid-afternoon, and that residents should not rely on water and sewer service to be available after noon. Please turn off your water at the property owner’s box if possible.

Come on, regardless of the weather, Holden Beach residents have the right to bare arms while intoxicated! Well, maybe not! If thet bare thier arms, they should get a tattoo reading “I Survived Irene’

Wow local goverment trying to do the ATF’s job Allen Holden and the rest of the clowns that run the town need to worry about what is their bussiness. They need to work on getting us a stop light at the bottom of the bridge or bring in some more shops on our ghostly causeway.
