BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY)– According to Brunswick County Emergency Management there was limited damage throughout the county from Hurricane Irene.

There were a few reports of incidental structural damages and trees down. Flooding has subsided for the most part and all major roads and highways remain open.

Emergency Management officials also say that shelters are beginning to demobilize. West Brunswick and South Brunswick High Schools are now closed. North Brunswick remains open because of power outages in the Leland area.

Brunswick County Emergency Management also says there are still approximately 12,000 buildings/homes without power.
