COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Tabor City teen with ties to former state Sen R.C. Soles remains in jail tonight. Yesterday Allen “Frog” Strickland turned himself in after five days on the run.

Strickland has become a common name in and around Columbus County. The Tabor City teen has been arrested numerous times. His charges often involve his former attorney Soles. Police have charged Strickland with trespassing at Soles’s home and vandalizing it, too.

Earlier this month the teen got out of jail on a $1 million bond with the stipulation that he wear a GPS monitoring device and have no contact with Soles. But Thursday police say Strickland violated those court orders when he showed up to Soles’s home. Forty-five minutes later Strickland also cut off his GPS monitor. He was on the run until Monday night when the teen turned himself in to his bail bondsman.

“He’s in there so many times and in and out. I think he’ll find a way out and get out,” Columbus County resident Shannon Long said.

Long is just one many residents we spoke with Tuesday who were not only familiar with Strickland, but who also have their own thoughts on the teen and the former state senator.

“I don’t think he’s innocent at all,” Stacy Shipman of Whiteville said. “I think Soles gave him the money. He was set up. I’m surprised to see him in jail again, but I think he’ll get out again.”

While some are willing to name names, others are not. They say “Frog” will find another way out of jail.

“I think it is all political, and it stems back to a person, and I’m not naming any names, but I think he’ll work his ways out,” Long said.

For now Strickland is in the Columbus County Jail, under a $25 million bond for removing his GPS. His next court date is September 23 for what else? Vandalism and trespassing charges from an incident at Soles’s home earlier this year.

We tried contacting Mark Cartret, Strickland’s bail bondsman, to see if he would repossess Strickland’s home and car, which were collateral for his bond. We have not yet heard back from Cartret.

We also contacted Strickland’s attorney, Craig Wright. He had no comment.

I actually find it amazing that he’s still in jail after what, 4 days now? And is likely to spend Labor Day weekend in there as well.. Amazed.. not disappointed..

Also.. it’s not the Tabor City police that are looking foolish.. they keep arresting him when they find him.. it’s the judges and prosecutors that look inept.

To those that want to see this go away… while I can understand your reasoning…. I say keep reporting him.. it’s way too entertaining. If frog and RC don’t have a problem letting it continue, then I don’t have a problem tuning in :)

Who is that blonde that goes to court with frog????? I know he don’t have a girlfriend she must be hired cover up!!!

@ Taborcity (not verified)
It is his girlfriend. She is probably there for the nice rides and money. What he does with RC is not pleasure for him, nor would I think any young man would enjoy it, its strictly business.

Its about time someone comes forward to solve all this going on between Soles and Strickland I’m sure the law enforcement officers have better things to be doing than wasting time over and over again on this BIG MESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve heard Soles say he just tried helping…well, helping ain’t helping!

We don’t have much of a choice, we cant vote a chief out like the sheriff, but we can vote a mayor and town council out who hires the chief! And lets not forget the town manager which we absolutely have no use for, and is just setting there eating up taxpayers money in this small little town.

But I doubt that will happen.

Maybe they got it right this time. I don’t believe he can come up with that kind of bond, but then again, this story never ends. Kind of hard to believe there is anyone, including Mr. Soles, who could bond this type of money.

I am wondering who is paying this attorney to stay with this guy. Maybe someone needs to look into a connection there. Something has to give – this situation has gone on too long and raises many questions about the judges, the attorney, and anyone else that has been involved. Tabor City police are nothing but a big joke and I can’t understand how the citizens in that area have put up with this for so long.

Not everyone in Columbus County is a fool. The people of Columbus County are tired of hearing about this mess. It is a select few from Columbus County (RC, RC’s Boys, Tabor City PD, TC Town Manager, Some of the judges (the entire judicial system), former DA Rex Gore of Brunswick County) who makes the entire county look foolish.

New Hanover has its on problems too, it is an embarrassment that Berger was ever elected.

What an idiotic comment! Those involved are the ones who look like fools not the whole of Columbus County.

First off Strickland isnt losing anything to the Bail Bondsman. THe person being bonded out pays a pct to the bail bondsman for them to put up the full amount. Thats how the bondsman makes his money. Anything paid to them for the bail bonds company to write the bond is already gone.. Now Strickland may have put up the house and what not as extra insurance on the bond but the Bondsman would only be able to claim that if Strickland “jumped” bail which would mean the bail bonds company could be ont he hook for the entire amount. HE didnt jump bail as he didnt fail to show up for an appearance. and the Bail bonds company can only file for possession on extra guarantees if they suffer a loss on the bond which they DID NOT. This is why Dog the Bounty Hunter does what he does.. Technically what Strickland did was violate the terms of his release and he then becomes a Bond Revocation situation subject to arrest by the police/sheriff or the Bail Bondsman himself or his Enforcement agents (aka Bounty Hunter).. So please WWAY dont make comments that dont have any fact to them.. Strickland wouldnt lose the house or car unless he skipped out which he didnt do apparently he was in town the whole time it appears.

Wow bail Bonds 101, “101” would under most circumstances indicates knowledge gained in a first year college. Due to your spelling issues I have little doubt that is the case here. Under North Carolina law, there are no bounty hunters. You mentioned same as being able to arrest those like this Frog. Secondly you know very little about NC contract law as you pointed out that the bonding company had ‘no losses’ and therefore was not able to take this Frog guys home or car. If I were you I would first ask to review whatever the Frog guy put up as his fee. It may very well have been the home or the car. Bonding companies can take whatever they so desire as long as it is reasonable in relationship to the amount of bail being posted-and thus the value would not exceed 15%. We called the NC DOI who said that the barter system was alive and well and that bonding companies do such every day. Let me see, 15% of $1 million dollar bail could very equal a house and a car. Read and research and have all of the facts before you write about a matter. Also take a spelling course
