Facebook page looks for prayers for Berger

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- It has been a very controversial week for New Hanover County Commissioner Brian Berger. There was his reported suicide attempt Monday night and the fallout since.

But while Berger has faced much criticism, there are people coming to his support.

The Revival of Grace Ministries has created a Facebook event asking for members to pray for Berger. It's called "40 Days of Prayer for Brian Berger's Well Being..."

The page says, "Forget the politics for awhile - Let's pray for him as an individual..."

The page also says whether the suicide story is true or not Berger needs prayers.

We stopped by the home of the creators of the page, but they were not there and have not returned our message.

You are worse than rabid dogs preying on someone while he’s down and I liken your type to the evil and Godless Westboro group; typical of liberals and what the Bible calls slime. If something happens to Brian, YOU will have blood on YOUR hands. I’d SUE to own you. PERIOD.

It’s rather pathetic and I hope the rest of your 6 readers realize YOU have helped to destroy a man’s life with your sensationalism and corruption. You may think you are getting away with something, but GOD will hold you accountable.

Bet you won’t print this…

....is accurately reporting the bizarre, unusual behavior of a man who is likely mentally disturbed and in need of professional psychiatric help.

Berger is a public figure. If he wanted to keep his life private, he should never have run for office. If he wants to get back to being just another citizen, then he needs to resign. As long as he's a county commissioner, the people of this county have a right to be informed of his latest and next stunts.

You need to get a grip on the reality that IS Brian Berger.

I agree with the previous statement. LEAVE THE POOR GUY ALONE! FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE STUFF! As far as: "If he wanted to keep his life private, he should never have run for office. " What a childish statement. This just reminds me why I watch WECT. Ridiculous!!!!!!
WWAY is an embarrassment to Wilmington. For sure.

Oooh, sorry if the reality of a public life conflicts with your Pollyanna view of the world, but as long as whack-boy continues to carve away at his arms with razor blades and the WPD has to note his intoxication during the quarterly call-out to his house, the voters have a RIGHT to know exactly what is sitting in that commissioner's chair.

Let him resign and he can have all the privacy he wants.

Hey, you ever stop to think you take things a little too seriously and you may need psychiatric help?

Because sitting in a chair mumbling to yourself works !!! lmao

Im
just saying, get rid of the girlfriend

The girlfriend is not the problem. No matter what she says or does, Mr. Berger is responsible for his own actions. He has a choice, to react in a violent, immature manner or to just walk away. In each case, he has chosen to display violence, either against her (car) or himself (cutting).

"You don't wake up one morning a bad person. It happens by a thousand tiny surrenders of self-respect to self-interest." Mr. Berger needs to realize he is in the process of making those thousand tiny surrenders. He needs to stop it now, or it will consume him.
