WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — There is a lot of good food in North Carolina and the state decided to call attention to our culinary skills with a contest featuring North Carolina ingredients.
Marc and Sara Copenhaver operate Marc’s on Market and they are winners. Marc tells us about his entry and his edge in this year’s competition.
“It was a contest put on by the State Department of Agriculture, we entered a dish with all of the major ingredients focused on North Carolina products, rather than just stick with products that are just from the Cape Fear region we decided to branch out a little more and we used a local purveyor to source some lamb from western North Carolina, that was the main ingredient for our dish”.
Just up the road also in Ogden, the Kornerstone Bistro is another winner and head chef Travis Poage tells us about his winning dish. “Chicken Balentine, a lot of people like that, we make it using a lot of fresh local ingredients”.
The Kornerstone Bistro is flying as high as the pizza dough and it has always been a winner with diners. Both restaurants say they are proud of the awards but more interested in focusing on local customers.
