ELON, NC (AP) — Elon University says it is working to raise
awareness of racial issues after remarks were made to two students
in the past week.

The Times-News of Burlington reported
that Elon President Leo Lambert met with about 2,500 students
Tuesday to talk about the two on-campus incidents.

Student Government Association executive president Sam Warren
says he hopes students will learn of the incidents and be more
aware of the problem.

Lambert says a racial slur was yelled at a student last week
from a car that passed dangerously close to her. No suspects have
been identified.

Racial slurs were also yelled at a student after Saturday’s
football game. Officials don’t think that person who yelled was a
student.

Lambert also sent students an email on the topic Sunday.
