WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Pender County murder case is headed to a grand jury. Deputies say 34-year-old Michael Grant shot and killed his neighbor Anthony Wayne Edens August 31 and later fired at officers during a standoff.

Grant was scheduled for court today, but the DA’s office says his case will go to a grand jury for a possible indictment.

Grant is charged with first degree murder, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, assault by pointing a gun, communicating a threat and assault on a female.

We know he is guilty. Why not just carry him out on the square and shoot him the same way.

Maybe it’s because the lynch mob mentality is clearly a violation of our Constitutional rights to a trial by jury and due process?
