WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Chomping on chicken wings paid off for some good causes today.

As it celebrates its 10th anniversary, Buffalo Wild Wings decided to give back to area rescue workers. The restaurant donated ten cents from every chicken wing it sold last weekend. The 20,000 wings gobbled up meant $2,000 donated to police and firefighters, including the Wilmington Firefighter Memorial Garden being built at Empie Park.

“We’ve got to raise $100,000 almost before we can start construction on it, so when things like this happen, it’s a great partnership,” Wilmington Fire Chief Buddy Martinette said. “These stores like Buffalo Wild Wings are just a great opportunity for us.”

The money will also go to the New Hanover County Fire Department and the Wilmington Police Recreation Association.

Why did you leave out EMS??? Does the service that EMS provide mean nothing? These EMT’s and Paramedics put their lives on the line every day to save yours. They don’t serve this community for thanks or gratitude but to be left out when others are horored is just wrong.
