CHAPEL HILL,NC (WWAY) — Former Hoggard kicker Casey Barth has been nursing a sore thigh and hamstring lately. On Saturday in Chapel Hill the injury got worse for the UNC kicker. In fact Barth didn’t play in the second half of UNC’s 28-17 win over Virginia. Thomas Moore replaced Barth in the second half. Moore kicked two successful extra points in the second half. Barth kicked two extra points in the first half. The weather conditions on Saturday didn’t help matters. It was a cool, damp day.
On Tuesday North Carolina interim head coach Everett Withers said he’ll likely hold Barth out of the lineup for Saturday’s game against Georgia Tech due to a groin pull.
Casey Barth only needs four field goals this season in order to break the school record for field goals. Casey’s older brother, Connor, currently holds the record. Connor Barth is currently the kicker for the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
