GREENSBORO, NC (AP) — A network of winter shelters for the
homeless in Greensboro will expand this year to include the
downtown YWCA building as a women-only site.

The News & Record of Greensboro reported
that spaces for women will be consolidated at the YWCA, opening
another 12 beds for men.

The church-based sites are assigned a set number of participants
who are expected to stay at the same place throughout the program.
Volunteers provide meals and bedding and work with guests on
connecting to resources and finding jobs and housing.

At least two churches will work with the YWCA, which will
provide 25 beds for women in the gymnasium. The YWCA building had
been up for sale.
