WILMINGTON, NC (news release from UNCW Sports Information ) — UNCW women’s golf head coach Cindy Ho has announced the addition of former LPGA tour professional Maggie Will as a volunteer assistant coach.

“I am excited about the addition of Maggie Will to the UNCW women’s golf program as a volunteer assistant coach,” said Ho, the 2010-11 CAA Coach-of-the-Year. “A former tour professional, she brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience and knows how to be successful at the highest levels of the game. I am certain Maggie will be a valuable asset not only to our student-athletes, but the program as a whole.”

A native of Whiteville, N.C., Will joins the Seahawks from NC State, where she spent the 2010-11 campaign as an assistant coach after serving as a volunteer during the previous spring season.

During her time on Page Marsh’s staff, Will helped the Wolfpack post one tournament victory and record seven top-10 finishes. Individually, nine players combined for 15 top 20 finishes, while Brittany Marchand qualified for the 2011 U.S. Open following her freshman season with the Wolfpack.

Will spent the Fall 2009 season as a volunteer assistant with the VCU men’s program. She also previously served as a teaching professional at The Creek Club in Locust Valley, N.Y.

A member of the LPGA from 1989-2010, Will fashioned an impressive 21-year playing career that featured wins at the 1990 Desert Inn International, the 1992 Sara Lee Classic and the 1994 Children’s Medical Center Classic. She recorded at least one top-15 finish in four of the five tour majors and served on the LPGA’s Executive Committee for two years (1991-92).

A four-year letterwinner at Furman, Will sparked the Lady Paladins to a runner-up finish in the 1987 NCAA National Championships. She graduated from the Greenville, S.C., school with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

In addition to her playing and coaching career, Will has written columns and articles for several national golfing publications and recently combined with several other professionals and teachers to compose The Best Putting Instruction Book Ever! She is also the founder and owner of Get Fit For Putting, LLC, a lesson-based and putter-fitting business.
