BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- Brunswick County Sheriff's deputies are looking for a man wanted for a weekend murder in the Longwood community. Detectives have warrants for Alfred Lamont Butler, 36, for first degree murder, possession of firearm by felon and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.

Investigators say Butler shot and killed Sherman Aundo Daniels, 54, at a home on Carlon Road just before noon Sunday.

Butler, who is also known as Hakeem Ahmad Muhammad or Peanut, could still be in the Longwood community or in Horry County, SC.

Deputies are also looking for Johntoria R. Walton, 26, for accessory after the fact and aiding and abetting Butler. Deputies believe she may be with Butler at this time.

There's a $500 reward for information on where Butler is. Contact the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office at (910) 253-2777 and ask for Detectives Kyle Jones or Tony Caison if you have any information on this case.

People's actions

Verily, all praise be to Allah. I befriended Hakeem back in high school. We became brothers in Islam recently. We prayed together. He attended the Friday prayer consistently. He brought others into the religion and was trying to spread Islam in his community. We are NOT the NOI. We are SALAFI, those who follow the pious predecessors.

The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: A strong man is not one who defeats (another) in physical combat. Verily, a strong man is he who controls his self at the time of anger.

And in The Noble Qur'an - Fussilat 41:34 The good deed and the evil deed cannot be equal. Repel (the evil) with one which is better (i.e. Allâh ordered the faithful believers to be patient at the time of anger, and to excuse those who treat them badly), then verily! he, between whom and you there was enmity, (will become) as though he was a close friend.

I don't know the facts about this unfortunate incident. I didn't ask. Obviously Hakeem was not following these righteous principles at that particular time and ended up taking another person's life. Allah will be the Judge of that on Judgment Day.

I'm not here to defend Lamont's action, but to defend the pure religion of Islam. Lamont has a big influence in his community, and at times people don't realize how actions can affect other peoples lives. And I just wanted to say, despite his bad actions, the neighborhood of Longwood still needs Islam and the Knowledge of Allah and His commandments to bring them out of the darkness of ignorance. Hearts go out for Sherman as well.

I guess the Honorable

I guess the Honorable Hakeem, sees himself as a"Great Warrior". I see him as a coward, who attacks a unarmed man, with a gun.

Is that reward for "Dead or Alive"?

Is that reward for "Dead or Alive"? And, is it $500 per head? I'm looking for him and her. I will be approaching with extreme danger!!!

That is TOO funny!

"Butler, who is also known as Hakeem Ahmad Muhammad or PEANUT?"

All hail the great warrior of Islam....Peanut!

Brain size?

Maybe peanut is a reference to his brain size.

Another Good One

Common.

With that nickname, they might want to check out the North Carolina or Virginia Peanut Festivals for his whereabouts. They might find him buried down in some barrel of peanuts.

Or he may be at the State Fair with a shave.

Unfortunate he had to involve a bystander or friend to help him escape. Her parents must be thrilled.

ah yes

The peaceful religion.

To all those with comments.

To all those with comments. I grew up knowing both the individual who passed and the one who is being charged with the crime. Not one of you expressed your kind words or concerns if the family of all parties involved saw your posting. We are no better than Lamont or Sherman, nor do we know the full story only what the small town media has posted. I pray for the children, brothers and sisters of these love ones may they find peace and closure for this awful situtation. Sherman may you rest in peace. I wonder how much religion was taught in the Brunswick County correctional faculty where so man of the young longwood men have spent their lives. It was throught those walls that this individual was taught most of his religion. These seem walls did not give him an opportunity but a classification. Once again I ask that you respect both families before posting comments. To the Daniels and Bulter Family may God bless and keep you at your hours of sorrow.

What????

How in the world can you say that people should have respect for the families and not make condemning comments and in the same comment talk about the Longwood young men's lack of religious experiences in the Brunswick County Correctional Facility. Their own "freewill actions" put them in the Brunswick County Correctional Facility. If their asses were in church instead of on the street doing illegal activities,we would not be having this discussion now. And why is it that every time a black man commits a crime it's someone elses fault? Hell, the entire universe is wrong before the black man who actually committed the crime is wrong. Do you realize just how uneducated and ignorant you sound and just how much you clarified the THUG mentality of that community with your post. I say, let's tell it like it is. People make choices that put them where they are today, that's it period.
