CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- A judge has ordered a 15-year-old
Charlotte boy charged with murder in the shooting deaths of his
father and stepmother remain in custody.
Lawyers for the boy asked the judge Thursday to release him from
a juvenile prison under an electronic monitor to his grandparents
because he has behaved well behind bars.
But District Court Judge Louis Trosch sided with prosecutors who
say the boy is a danger to the community and a risk to flee.
Investigators say the teen ambushed his father, 43-year-old
Christian Liewald, and his 24-year-old stepmother, Cassie Buckaloo
at their Charlotte-area home last month because he wanted to run
away to Mexico.
The boy's lawyers say he was abused by his father most of his
life and was scared of him.
