CHARLOTTE, NC (AP) — A partnership designed to boost North Carolina’s manufacturing economy is taking stock of its first year and tallying up successes.
E3: North Carolina will host a meeting in Charlotte Friday to look back on the first year of the initiative, which brings together state, local and federal agencies to help manufacturers across North Carolina.
One of the successes the group is touting is the identification of cost savings worth more than $1 million to manufacturers. The savings come from 61 assessments done at 15 manufacturers, which found room for improvement in areas like energy use and worker safety.
The program, based at North Carolina State University, aims to launch 14 projects across the state each year through 2013.
