WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — This weekend, flowers aren’t the only beautiful things blooming in the Arboretum. Art will make an appearance as well.
The 16th annual Art in the Arboretum set up shop among the gardens. Local artists from the Wilmington Art Association are selling their paintings, sculptures and more. All proceeds from the event support the maintenance of the Arboretum.
“The Arboretum is a laboratory. It’s a working laboratory. It’s seven acres,” event chairwoman Sue Watkins said. “People in the community use the Arboretum to learn about plant life and what they can use in their own yards. Professional landscapers have coursework they can take here. It’s just a resource. We have a staff and volunteers that are very knowledgeable and can help the community with any information they need on horticulture.”
This year’s event showcased a lot of 3D artworks.
Art in the Arboretum runs Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
