TOPSAIL BEACH, NC (AP) — A sea turtle rescue group now has enough money to buy a digital radiograph machine,
thanks to an auction of fiberglass versions of the real animals.

The Daily News of Jacksonville reported 22 fiberglass turtles sold last month at an auction to raise money for the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center.

Officials say the auction raised more than $40,000 for a refurbished X-ray machine that they say costs about $34,000, not including supporting equipment and training.

The hospital will be relocating to a new building under construction in Surf City. The center is now located in Topsail Island.
