REIDSVILLE, N.C. (AP) – More than 150 cats and other small animals have been taken from a house in Rockhingham County.

The News & Record of Greensboro reported sheriff’s office said 150 cats, five dogs and four rabbits were taken after investigators said the animals were being kept in unsanitary and inhumane conditions.

No charges have been filed. The owner’s name has not been released.

Deputies say many of the animals were underweight, had respiratory infections and were infested with parasites.

The animals are being treated at the county animal shelter. Those who recover will be available for adoption.
