RALEIGH,NC (WWAY) -- Cape Fear Community College has a nationally ranked women's soccer team this season, but the season ended for the Sea Devils on Sunday in Raleigh in the finals of the Region X women's soccer tournament. The #1 seed Lady Sea Devils lost 4-3 in penalty kicks against Spartanburg Methodist after a scoreless affair through regulation play and two overtime periods.
The Sea Devils end the season ranked # 12 in the NJCAA poll with a final record of 19-2-0 overall and 15-2-0 in Region X. Chris Libert is the Cape Fear head coach.

The only UNCW National Championship UNCW has collected was in 1961 -coached by UNCW athletics pioneer Bill Brooks, it was the first of two national championship programs for the Seahawks (the other in 1963). Both were NJCAA (Junior College Teams) - Interesting huh -
