Nationally ranked Sea Devils end soccer season with double overtime loss

RALEIGH,NC (WWAY) -- Cape Fear Community College has a nationally ranked women's soccer team this season, but the season ended for the Sea Devils on Sunday in Raleigh in the finals of the Region X women's soccer tournament. The #1 seed Lady Sea Devils lost 4-3 in penalty kicks against Spartanburg Methodist after a scoreless affair through regulation play and two overtime periods.

The Sea Devils end the season ranked # 12 in the NJCAA poll with a final record of 19-2-0 overall and 15-2-0 in Region X. Chris Libert is the Cape Fear head coach.

The Sea Devils were featured on WWAY's Coach's Corner earlier this month. Check out segment three from that show.

is it true that the only program to win a national championship from that school was the cheerleaders? that must be hard to live up to...

Go Sea Devils and Go Sea Hawks!

The only UNCW National Championship UNCW has collected was in 1961 -coached by UNCW athletics pioneer Bill Brooks, it was the first of two national championship programs for the Seahawks (the other in 1963). Both were NJCAA (Junior College Teams) - Interesting huh -
