WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Wilmington chef Keith Rhodes runs Catch Seafood restaurant off Market Street. Wednesday night Rhodes became somewhat of a local celebrity as he began competing on Bravo’s “Top Chef: Texas”.
Rhodes was nominated for a James Beard Foundation Award earlier in 2011 which is kind of like the “Oscars” of food. Now he is on the 9th season of “Top Chef.”
“I had a lot of fun,” Rhodes said. “It was really hot; 110 degrees every day. It was a great opportunity to meet a lot of other good chefs that are in the same realm that I’m in. It was a lot of fun meeting Padma and Tom and a whole slew of other guests that will be on the show.”
Rhodes, a Laney graduate, was contacted multiple times by the show to take part in the competition. When he finally was able to, he found it both enjoyable and challenging.
“One thing I will say is that for 2011, one of the big phrases in Hollywood is, ‘Food is very subjective,'” Rhodes said. “So keep that in mind as you watch the show.”
After future episodes of “Top Chef: Texas” you can support Rhodes by voting him as a fan favorite on the Bravo TV website. The fan favorite will receive $10,000.
