RALEIGH, NC (RALEIGH NEWS & OBSERVER) — North Carolina continues to remain competitive in the presidential contest, according to the latest poll.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney leads President Barack Obama by a 46-45 percent margin, which is within the margin of error, according to a survey by Public Policy Polling, a Democratic-leaning firm based in Raleigh. That is reversed from the previous month, when Obama led Romney 46-45, also within the margin of error.

Obama holds larger leads over the other prospective GOP candidates.

If your a fan of Morning Joe you may recall the statement made by Grover Norquist a few weeks ago when he declared all he wanted was a President that could sign his name. I think all your guys qualify!! Its sad what your party has become. Gotcha Please give greater thought to your comments.

  • Mumofthree says:

Were you happy with the mess Bush left our country in when he left office? We had 8 years with the worst President in the history of
the United States during which the government turned a blind eye to
the crooks on Wall Street. So let’s not forget how we ended up in this mess. President Obama didn’t create this but he is trying to fix things. Have there been misteps? If he could start over I’m certain some things would be done differently or not at all. But as we know life doesn’t work that way.

Bless our military for answering the call to duty. They will be returning, some injured, to a U.S. with fewer jobs every day. We
need the Jobs Bill passed. This country needs improved roads, bridges, schools, and jobs!!

Some people may not like our President just as many did not like the last one but at least pass the bills that will help your country and fellow citizens. E-mail your representatives today and ask them to pass the jobs bill.

  • taxpayer says:

we’ll just have to agree to disagree. And no, I won’t email my Congress critters to vote for Stimulus III. It’s a bill we cannot afford unless the amount proposed to be spent is taken from current spending.

Our national debt is going to saddle our children, grandchildren, and possibly great-grandchildren. You and I cannot spend more than we make…the Federal Government should not as well. Unfortunately, they’re the ones with the printing press. You and I don’t have that luxury.

  • Mumofthree says:

The bill proposed today by the Democrats would have been funded by raising taxes on people making more than a million dollars a year by 0.07%. So unless you make OVER 1 MILLION dollars a year it won’t apply to you. But it would help our economy. We need jobs to help get people off the public assistance that most don’t want anyway. Saving tax dollars there. People who are working would be able to pay for their homes or even buy one that has been on the market for years and spend money to boost the economy. This would keep other people working.

As we have seen from the 8 years with Bush the “job creators” tax breaks did nothing for the citizens of the United States. Time to pay attention to what is in the bills our representatives are voting on and how they are voting. If they aren’t doing the work we put them in office for then vote them out and replace them with a candidate who will. Warren Buffet has even said this, but he did a much better job than I did.

E-mail your state representatives and ask them to pass the jobs bills. America needs jobs!

  • Guest55555 says:

I have voted in every election since I was 18 (I’m now over 60). Sorry to say, but it doesn’t really matter who you vote for…they all turn out the same anyway. They promise you the moon before they get elected, but they all wind up the same.

They all shaft the hard working middle class, while the poor have all kinds of programs to help them out, and the rich get richer. But the middle guy is always the biggest loser, no matter who you vote for.

  • Guest4396 says:

Considering the mess he stepped into from 8 years of George Bush, I think he has done a decent job. He will certainly be my choice. And, I am a white Southerner.

  • Guest99999 says:

I WANT CLINTON BACK!!!! He was a jerk, but at least my paycheck went further.

  • Guest461 says:

…and I don’t care if you’re a purple North Dakotan. Stupid is plain stupid. 90% of America is one paycheck from poverty! Thanks Obama!

  • Guest4396 says:

I agree with you 100%. The nation was working, we were in the best financial shape in the century, gas was cheap, and who cares what he did in his personal life. That was his business. Then a Republican oil man came in and see where we are now? And the Repubs blame Obama.

  • Guest461 says:

…then NAFTA was enacted and all of our textiles went overseas, all of our furniture manufacturers died after THEIR work was given overseas. Tip of the iceberg! Everything we purchase today has a gold “Made in China” sticker stuck on it. Then we have a near economic collapse due to the brilliant Clinton decision to deregulate the mortgage industry so that “everybody can own a home, whether the can pay for it or not!” following all of that up we have an exponential influx of illegal aliens robbing our country, our citizens, our healthcare system and taxation right to the bone! Yeah…Thanks Clinton! righto….

You forget far too easily the raw sewage pits left behind by those you still seem to believe helped you?

OPEN your eyes and listen! Quit drinking so much and regain your memory!

  • Guest99x says:

You’re giving the wrong devil its due here. NAFTA was the political brainchild of none other than President Reagan. Although Clinton signed this anti US labor piece of junk legislation, there were plenty of Republicans in attendance.

Clinton’s vision of more Americans owning homes wasn’t all too bad a thing. It wouldn’t have become the disaster it is today if some jobs were left behind for American workers.

NAFTA is truly a bi-partisan shafting of US.

  • Guest99999 says:

Well said. Guest461 should remember that a half truth is a whole lie….and if a lie is repeated often enough, all the dumb jackasses in the world not only believe it, but they even swear by it.

  • Guest99999 says:

Exactly my point! At least some people get it…while others are standing around saying, “Duh…”

  • Mumofthree says:

Those were the days. He wasn’t a jerk to anyone but his wife. The money spent to investigate all this was outrageous. It’s all a shame because he was a very good President.

Yes, we had it good when Bill was in office.

  • Guest4396 says:

461, you’re totally in some sort of world where you just don’t comprehend. Jeez…..they walk among us and unfortunately, they vote.

  • Commonsensenotcommontoday says:

….between Romney and Obama, you’re nuts.

If you think that any president can do anything more than nudge oil prices over the short term, you’re nuts.

If you think that ANYONE can get us out of the economic hole we’re in without a massive re-think of the role of governmnet and Draconian cuts in spending, you’re nuts.

The ONLY reasons to pray to GOD that Obama isn’t re-elected is because of his increased opportunity to make yet another flaming left-weenie Supreme Court nomination, and advance crackpot left-wing ideas that have been simmering on the back burner.

  • Guest2020 says:

There are choices outside the Democratic and Republican parties. If people would realize this and vote for the best candidate instead of the party, we might get a halfway decent person in the Oval Office.

  • Obama2012 says:

and let the republicans turn on each other..Cain accusing Perry campaign of leaking information that he has lied, twisted, recanted and finally admitted to, Perry campaign accusing Romney of doing it and it just keeps going..

By the way where is the Laney Principal Story? I dont see it on the website? You guys claim to be a news station in reporting stories but you only said something about it in your newscast but not put it online for comments? Why is that? Conflict of Interest? If you are going to brag about the hard hitting stories you claim to report, then dont be bias in choosing what you will and wont publish online.

  • robo says:

Since this article came from the Raleigh News and Observer, an area considered an Obama stronghold, it appears the President is in trouble in NC. His policies have not been well received in the state.

  • Guest7969 says:

have we REALLY become THIS stupid?

  • Guest34234 says:

It’s just that numerous liberal progressives have moved into this state over the past few years from *ahem* the north

  • Robert Green says:

It is close because of the demographic makeup of the state of N.C has changed to the Left.We currently have a Socialist occupying the White House, who is adamant in the implementing the failed European economic model. They will only be marginal economic success with his oppressive and dysfunctional fiscal policies. Many in the electorate are misinformed and ignorant as to what is currently unfolding concerning our economic direction.A broke government can not simply support a dependency culture. Surprisely, many folks in our society want a dependency culture becuase no effort is required to be a taker from productive members of the economy.A prime example is Obamacare. In the end, Joe Blow Crackhead will have the same health insurance plan you have, except you will be financing his plan.

Romney is a moderate politician with a history of being a flip flopper on numerous issues. He is not a leader. He is just a politician, who goes with the political winds. He laid the groundwork for the fruition of OBamacare with Romneycare in Massachuetts. He looks the part but there is not a whole lot of substance as far as principles go.

  • Guest2121 says:

The field of Republican candidates is a complete joke.

Even if you completely dislike Obama, does anyone seriously believe any of these idiots can beat him?

Obama doesn’t even need to run a campaign agasint these clowns…he could save all kinds of money by not running any kind of campaign at all and still win.

  • taxpayer says:

Are you happy with the direction this country is headed? Do you feel Obama has been an effective leader? Does it please you knowing that the current administration has increased the total debt by over 4 Trillion dollars? Do you mind your tax dollars going to companies who now have gone bankrupt (Solyndra) knowing your tax dollars given to them will never be repaid?

  • Guest461 says:

I at first read…”Obama and Romney dead”.
