CASTLE HAYNE, NC (WWAY) — Thousands of people polkaed and pierogied their way through the Polish Festival Saturday.

The annual event is held at Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church in Castle Hayne. While the event celebrated its 14th year this weekend, the parish is nearly 100 years old.

Pastor Ryszard Kolodziej says the people of Poland are friendly and family-oriented, which are also characteristics of the festival.

“People can dance all day long to their favorite polkas,” the Pastor said. “They can listen to music while enjoying a plate of delicious Polish pierogis, stuffed cabbage and savory sausage. Here, the food and entertainment bring people together, bring families together.”

People young and old, Polish and not did just that. Many danced the day away, while others enjoyed watching and eating.

The Polish Festival runs Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Ditto. Why can’t we find out about these events in advance?

Wish I’d known about it. Sounds like fun! Maybe next year, I’ll hear about it in time to attend.

Me too. Coming from the north east part of PA, we always attended the Polish festivals there. I would have surely gone to this one if I had known.
