WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- It was a little too chilly to lay out on the beach this weekend, but it was perfect weather to enjoy a good kite festival.

Kite flyers came together during the fourth annual Cape Fear Kite Festival in Wrightsville Beach.

A huge, life-size blue whale was by far the largest sea creature to fly above. The massive, colorful kites painted the sky, while folks bundled up to enjoy the show.

The event’s organizer, Michael Agner, says some of the kites are flown in shows across the globe.

“We get to travel all over the world with the kites,” said Agner. “People don't realize that in other parts of the world, kite flying is a big deal. We are treated like rock stars in some countries.”

The festival was held on Saturday and Sunday in front of the Shell Island Resort.

You are all so good at reporting after the event. Where was the heads-up
info announcing the event.

Tickets....

With no where for visitors to park nearby, other than the side of the street, how many parking tickets were issued? How much in total fines?

Maybe the parking enforcer was only writing "thank you for visiting WB" notes?

Fantastic parking planning...
