Playoff run ends for Laney’s soccer team

WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY) – In a physical contest the Pinecrest Patriots eliminated the Laney Buccaneers on Saturday night in the 4-A east semi-finals of the high school soccer playoffs. The game was tied at 1 entering the second half, but the Patriots distanced themselves from Laney in the end.

Mike Walsh scored Laney’s lone goal on a penalty kick in the first half. Laney ends the season with a 17-3 record.

WWAY will showcase Saturday’s game on the Coach’s Corner on Sunday. The Coach’s Corner will air at 6pm on Sunday. Both head coaches will provide analysis on the playoff contest.

Im just glad Laney’s football team lost. I was at one of their games… they were winning by over 20 points with 30 seconds left. instead of taking a knee, the coach went for a field goal. after the game is said if the other team didn’t like it to… then used the F bomb. this guy shows what kind of teachers & students attend Laney high school
