WENDELL, NC (AP) — A Wake County sheriff’s deputy and a suspect in a domestic call have been wounded in an apparent shootout.

Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Phyllis Stephens said in an e-mail Thursday that deputies were responding to a domestic call in the town of Wendell, which is east of Raleigh. Stephens said when the deputies arrived, shots were fired. No other details of the incident were immediately available.

Both the deputy and the suspect were transported to WakeMed in Raleigh. Their conditions weren’t known late Thursday night.
