WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Festival of Trees along with the Nutcracker Ballet returned to center stage this year after a five-year break.

The Wilmington Ballet Company helped bring the event back alongside the production of a classic Christmas ballet, The Nutcracker. The event is going on all weekend at the Minnie Evans Art Center. Part of the proceeds will be given to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

“It’s getting me in the Christmas spirit because it has a lot of things and colors about Christmas,” excited nine-year-old Ben Testori said. “Some of them have stars on top, and some of them have Santas on top of them and stuff like that.”

WWAY’s own Katie Harden helped kick off the event Saturday afternoon.

Participators say they are glad to see the tradition light up again.
