WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A 17-year-old man has been arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering an Automobile after an off-duty police officer observed someone breaking into his own truck around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, the officer saw Hunter Lee Costen look into a van that was parked in the officer’s driveway on Headwater Cove Lane and try unsuccessfully to open the door. When the officer saw Costen approach his truck, he retrieved his department-issued weapon, and went outside to find the suspect halfway inside the truck.

The officer placed Costen in handcuffs and called 911 for an on-duty officer to respond.

Three other break-ins occurred in the same neighborhood the night before. Those cases are now under review.

All you bleeding hearts need to swallow a band-aid and quit trying to make excuses for low life criminals such as these. He is lucky the officer had restraint or he might have been eating several large bullets. Cities all ove the U.S. need to take back the streets from the thugs and the hoodrats who think they are owed a living because they are to lazy and stupid to get an education and work.

Your family sounds like a bunch of jacka**es. Next time one of the fools you are related to does something like this they might not be so lucky. They might find someone who will shoot first and ask questions later. This was not a mistake, this was his choice to be stupid, and he got caught. As for you putting me in my place go for it. I’m not the one facing felony charges like your stupid relative.SO BITE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

You people should consider other peoples feelings, especially those who are family members of his. Instead of posting idiotic remarks about what you think, comment on what you know, not what you aassume. You what assume does, makes an ass out of you and me. Stop being jackasses and have respect.

While what my cousin did is wrong there is no need for name calling. His parents don’t drink for your information. You people obviously have nothing better to do than to sit on your a$$e$ and criticize a minor. Haven’t you ever done anything wrong???He made a mistake and now he’s paying for it.Have some respect for our family.

I am so glad you all have nothing better to do than talk junk about my family. We are very hurt by what has happened but strong enough not to care what you all have to say. As for his parents they are wonderful hard working people who tried their best to raise him right. Influences by others can sometimes be stronger than us parents. Well if you have anything else to say how about direct it to me, I will gladly put you in your place. Thank you to my neive for defending my family, I got it from here hun!
