WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — UNCW announced a big, early Christmas present today. The school says it has received $1 million for its Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI).

This second million-dollar gift from the Bernard Osher Foundation will enhance the university’s ability to provide community members with opportunities for continuing studies.

OLLI is a university-led and member-supported organization that provides lifelong learning opportunities, focusing on adults aged 50 and older.

“It’s been a program that’s been important to us for a long time,” UNCW Chancellor Gary Miller said. “The Osher Foundation has been very generous in their support this year, so this additional funding is just a way for us to continue to provide this service in southeast North Carolina.”

The Bernard Osher Foundation seeks to improve quality of life through support for higher education and the arts with special attention to reentry students.
