WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Once again our community has shown just how generous it is, contributing a record amount of money and food for the annual Help for the Holiday One-Day Blitz to restock the Salvation Army’s Food Pantry.

This year the effort at Krispy Kreme on S. College Road collected 8,315 pounds of food and $1,500.10 in the Red Kettle. That easily tops the old record from last year of 6,800 pounds of food and $1,100.

The Salvation Army says the donations will help serve more than 800 needy families in our area.

On behalf of the Salvation Army, Krispy Kreme and 103.7 The Bone, WWAY wants to thank everyone who gave this year!

How many free donuts did Krispy Kreme give away. I know that they were a big part of the huge success by giving away a free dozen donuts for 5 cans or $5,00 donation. Please give them more credit.
