NEW BERN, NC (AP) — Two North Carolina men are about to learn their sentences after pleading guilty to their roles in a home-grown terror cell that prosecutors say plotted attacks under their father’s leadership.

Dylan Boyd and Zakariya Boyd are scheduled for sentencing Tuesday in federal court in New Bern. Defense attorneys blame their involvement on their father Daniel Boyd and his radical Muslim views.

Prosecutors say the brothers were part of a group of eight men who raised money, stockpiled weapons and trained in preparation for jihadist attacks against American military targets and others they considered enemies of Islam.

Twenty-two-year-old Zak and 25-year-old Dylan Boyd each pleaded guilty to conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, which carries a maximum of 15 years in prison. Both cooperated with prosecutors and expect lesser sentences.
