WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina Division of Air Quality has completed its report on public hearings about the proposed Titan Cement plant in Castle Hayne.

Dozens of residents spoke out against the plant at the hearings in September.

The report includes nine recommendations. Among them that Division of Air Quality seek a legal evaluation on whether it can issue a new air permit to Carolinas Cement before an environmental review is done.

The final decision to award the permit will be up to the director of the Division of Air Quality.

I agree that this company could provide a lot of jobs for this community. Ideal Cement company was here for a long long time and I grew up around here and never heard any complaints about that company being here. Why is this any different. I am one of the unemployed and if the people fighting this company was out of work they would be fighting to bring Titan in.

In other words delay or kill the project again. This state deserves its high unemployment rate.
