WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington teen is out of the Pitt County Jail after police say he went on a mile-long mailbox wrecking spree.

Greenville Police arrested Ryan McGee, 19, early Sunday morning.

According to arrest warrants, McGee damaged seven mailboxes and attempted to damage an eighth. McGee is charged with injury to real property.

A police report also says McGee was drinking alcohol.

It may hurt your anus that other people are smarter than you, but the ability to not commit crimes really isn’t anything that special. The fact that you try to lump honest people into some kind of category where they are the ones who did wrong makes me laugh. You must truly be brain damaged. Sure its understandable that people don’t like to hear about it when they did something bad, but that’s society. If he wasn’t meant to feel shame for his actions then it would never have even been in the news for all to see.

  • Guest CommonTater says:

    Apparently you don’t….

  • coondoghunter1 says:

This kid hit my mailbox, i got evicted cause i couldnt find my bills all over the road the next day thanks to this “good guy”

  • SurfCityTom says:

he was Cool Hand Luke? In the movie, Pul Newman took it out on parking meters and was sentenced to 2 years.

As this entailed postal delivery boxes, will this young miscreant also qualify for federal charges as well?

Ryan McGee is a great kid for those of you who do not know him. He comes from a great family and has never had any issues with the law. WWAY should focus on the real issues of things that are relevant to Wilmington. This instance happened in Greenville therefore it is not even an issue for Wilmington. What was the purpose of this article? To make the McGee family suffer and have Ryan go through more embarrassment than he already is. Everyone has had too much to drink before and if WWAY and Wilmingtonians knew the true story behind this article I would hope they would have more compassion. There are murders, shooting, robberies, rapes, etc. that happen everyday in Wilmington and WWAY chose to put a teenager who made a mistake in Greenville on the news to embaress him in his family…pathetic. WWAY should feel completely ashamed for aiding in the humiliation for Ryan and his family. I have complete disrespect for the WWAY news team and so should the rest of Wilmington.

  • Pam Carpenter says:

Quit blaming your eviction on this kid. I am 100% sure that one month you supposedly couldn’t find your bills is not why you were evicted. I’m pretty sure you know when your rent is due. Grow up and take responsibility for your own actions or lack thereof (ie…paying your rent on time)I can assure you this kid will take responsibility for his actions, own them and do what is necessary to make things right. He is that kind of person. Obviously, from your comment I can tell you are not.

  • friend says:

He is one of the sweetest kids you will ever meet. Dont go judging him just because he did one stupid thing. Everyone makes mistakes and yes it was a stupid one. But hes learned his kesson an wway should have never posted this. People who actually live in greenville and do worse crap than this, dont even go through this. I think wway was Inconsiderate by putting his story up here. It isnt local news and its not something some kid has never done before. Your sitting here degrading him with yiur words, but think about what his parents and himself are going through thanks to wway. Somethings should be left alone and this is one of them. Think about if it was your kid who chose to do one stupid thing and this happened to him, you wouldnt want people to be talking about your child like that, so dont do it to others.

  • beebopn1 says:

Glad to see that there are still some people out there that feel it is there god given right to speak up and cast despersions on someone they don’t know. Kids make mistakes. Thats the true spirt of the season. Merry Christmas……

  • anna ward says:

wow! look how judgemental some of you are. as if we all havnt done stupid things we are not proud of or have someone we love make huge mistakes and very wrong decisions. i certainly have. im happy for those of you who are perfect and have not.its nice to live in your own perfect world isnt it? i know his family and they are all great people.i agree this should not have made our news here and dont you think the parents are going thru enough right now,and have to read this rediculous ridicule about their child? it was very wrong, and im not condoning this behavior, but some of you are acting as if he is inhumane and deserves corporal punishment.the judge will determine whats right for this case.im sure in the decision will also be based on a sparkeling clean record and his excellent grades at one of the 3 best colleges in this state. this is a first and im sure the last huge cotastrophy he will willingly do and is facing the consequences,as are his parents. please re-evaluate your perfect performances as human beings. these are wonderful people too.even if a bad decision was made. i hope you all have a wonderful holiday and a great new year!

  • Addison Fo says:

SMDH. Who the hell do you think you are? You enjoy judging someone you don’t even know. I’ve known Ryan for a few years, and yes he may party, but he is still a good guy nonetheless. He knocked over some mailboxes and it was a mistake. I’m sure he will be paying for it and has spent his time. The ignorance of you people is amazing. With your “intellect” I would imagine you would have something better do than to make insensible comments about a guy you don’t even know…SMDH

  • guesty says:

Sorry, property damage isn’t a mistake, it is a crime. Crimes are not mistakes, they are choices made by criminals.
You amaze me that you would try to defend his actions. Keep on shaking that empty head of yours.

  • An old friend says:

I can’t say I’m surprised to see this, but it breaks my heart nonetheless. You’re a brilliant guy, with a tremendous family, and all the potential in the world. I have one question for you: Why?

Why do you continue to sacrifice your health, exceptional potential, and wonderful personality for the indulgence in superfluities such as alcohol? Is it really worth it?

Why has alcohol become the epicenter of your life? What good is it anyway? I sincerely hope you can find your greater purpose, and leave trivial things such as alcohol behind once and for all.

Most importantly, I wish I could hold your eyes open to the love that surrounds you, so that you could genuinely witness all of the goodness that is in your life; and find true satisfaction: in life itself.

Unfortunately, my hands aren’t that strong; but I know a man whose are. And I pray that He guide you away from detrimental self-indulgence, and into a life of love.

Luke 1:78-79 – “because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and guide our feet into the way of peace.”

  • jeff123456 says:

wow!! since when did we as humans have any right to judge one onther anyway. We all make mistakes no matter what it is. I think we all should just take a step back and try to fix the problem insted of makeing problems worse. After all these are just opinions Just so people know i have lived here all my life as well as been all over the world. EVERONE MAKES MISTAKES i also am a homeowner and have had this happen to me as well. i simpley went to kids parents and WE resolved it together. Good luck to the parents of ryan as i am sure he will,if not aready learned a big lesson in life, like alot of us do everyday.

  • Truth says:

Except for the fact he’s probably just a kid who had to much to drink one night. In a gang? You’re stupid or don’t know what a gang is. This kid is someone who probably got mad while drinking and hit a few mailboxes. It has no reflection on his character or the person he is. He is probably a college kid who got too drunk one night and if you think this has any reflection on his personality you have never been in college or have had fun. Grow up.

  • anna ward says:

    i agree! you live here!

  • beebopn1 says:

Wow you must be the most ignorant person on the planet…. People make mistakes. Hopefully some day you have a child that makes one and everyone else get to bash him or her. Talk about trash.

  • SMDH says:

This ignorant trash should stay in jail. Destroying the property of hardworking families is terrible. Probably on welfare and does not have a job. Probably a gang member. Wilmington is going to the dogs.

  • anna ward says:

funny.you get to see a mug shot,we get to see you make this coment hiding behind a screen name.dont you look so sophisticated in society.im sure your mothers real proud too

  • SMDH says:

I feel so bad for you. To have a maniac for a son must be disappointing. Since you raised him, should I question your parenting skills? Did you not hug him enough as a child? Is that why he’s knocking over mailboxes b/c you neglected him?? So sad

  • Guest9896 says:

From the Ghetto? Hes from a very nice part of town with no other record retard.

  • SMDH says:

You hillbillies must all be related to this loser. How can you defend his senseless actions??? The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.. I hope you losers stay your distance from my neighborhood. He looks like a serial killer… hitting mailboxes was just the beginning.. next he will be bashing someone’s head. I hope the feds put this criminal away before he hurts someone. He is creepy looking.

  • anna ward says:

coinsidentaly,i too am from wilmington!born and raised!you shouldnt assume anything.you do know what they say about that right?we can only wonder who you are ,because you have the name smdh. your such the man or woman to make this comment and must be so respected. own it if you say it.i hope i dont know you.i would be ashamed.but i cant,i do not know anyone so perfect.my name is listed.you must live in the landfill or sewage plant gates.thats where your thoughts and words come from and belong.you are a disgrace to any religion for judgiing this and a disgrace to wilmington for hiding your name. realy,im not out for a war with you, although this rediculousness comes from thru out the world.the lack of knowledge is what i mean.dont assume with you and i and create a gang. i hope you and your friends and family have a wonderful christmas.im sure it will be a cookie cutter story book event.lets remember what its realy about.i hope you can find it in your heart to please have mercy on the family, even if you cant ryan. i know your parents have never exsperianced any disappointment from you, after all,you would have gotten death or life from a stranger who assumed. we should all be just like SMDH.i hope the new year is better for this family,my friends. oh,and you too. you dont need that hope tho do you? you and yours are perfect right?

  • SMDH says:

you’re from the same city as I am. Your incoherent attempt at a blog gave me a migraine. I don’t speak or read pig latin. I speak and read only English. I ASSume you haven’t been in school in decades. SMDH To know my name is not going change anything. However, I will let you in on this.. I am ALL Woman baby!! LMAO

  • SMDH says:

He is a disgrace to the human race. Why should I assume he is in college and had a few drinks.. does it make it okay?? I’m confused here. I knew people would come on here defending him like he’s some marvel stand up citizen. What has he contributed to society, other than destroy people’s properties? I am a proud homehowner and I wish he would have tried me…. He is a low life trailer park trash who deserves federal time in prison. Look at his profile pic.. he looks guilty and up to no good. He probably isn’t even from Wilmington.. I was born and raised here and you outsiders can kick grass and leave my city.

  • Guest55555 says:

Isn’t this the sort of thing a 10 year old would do? He may physically be 19, but he’s going on 10.

The problem with this kid is that he has been handed everything and never had to work for it. When things come too easy, it’s called “being spoiled” for good reason. It spoils their character, and they think the world owes them everything.

Back when I was a kid, you worked for everything you got, and you didn’t see little hoodlums like this running around. Now, they are more the rule than the exception.

I blame the parents as much as I do this kid, because they are the ones who created a monster. This kid needed a full time job to keep his time occupied, unless he was going to school, and then he would need a part time job and/or multiple chores at home to keep him busy.

It’s a shame how kids are being ruined today because their parents hand them everything. Wake up, parents! This could be your kid in about 5-15 years.

  • Guest1999 says:

This kid comes from a good home with supportive parents. All things in life that are needed to succeed are available to him. What he needs is drug and/or anger management counseling, a swift (and very stern) kick in the rumpus, and a “no car available til about June” punishment. That would get his attention.

  • sunrays456 says:

You know nothing about this child and his family so keep your opinions to yourself. The parents are wonderful people and have nothing to do with the actions of their son. Who are you to call Ryan a monster? Ryan DOES work a part time job and has ever since the age of 15. He is a busy student at a TOP University in North Carolina. Ryan does not have a car of his own and has never been handed anything in his life. SO “back when you were a kid” also goes for Ryan. Speak for yourself iidot.

  • anne says:

His punishment should be having to go to each house and clean up, replace each mailbox, and apologize to the home owners. Then give him some community service to do!!!!!!!!!

  • Seven... says:

    Seven = a spree?

  • Guest1946 says:

Since this has to do with mailboxes, this might turn into a federal case. If so, he’ll probably pull some time.

  • anonymous says:

I know this kid very well, he is a good friend of mine and never have I known him to do something like this. He is a smart and talented man, who has a very loving and supporting family. He comes from a good part of town and is getting an education at a great university. I think this was just a drunken mistake, however, he should have to suffer the consequences.
