Onslow shooting victim ‘alert and talking with family’

JACKSONVILLE, NC (WCTI) — Deputies in Onslow County are investigating a shooting; Sheriff Ed Brown said a man was shot three times.

It happened near 1932 Blue Creek Road near Jacksonville at around 8:30 a.m. Captain Jason Daughtry said an altercation led to the shooting. Deputies have been in touch with family members of two men involved in the shooting; no one is in custody at this time. Investigators are looking for a white Cadillac that may have bullet holes from the gunfire exchange.

The victim, whose name is not being released at this time, was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Officials at the hospital tell NewsChannel 12 the victim is alert and talking with family.

Another person was involved in the incident; an innocent motorist’s vehicle was struck by a stray projectile. That individual was not injured.
